Blue Light

There’s a blue light on
in her room
I’m still not sure
what I’m doing here
tonight my soul
just brought me here
I don’t even know
if I want to be here
but I’m here
and she’s up there
in her room
with the blue light on
she doesn’t know I’m here
no one knows
just me
and the radio
and another cigarette
and she won’t come down
I know she won’t
and yet
I picture her there
am I in love
in lust
or just in need
I think I just might need her
for now that must be it
I need her
I need this
she’s up there in her room
with the blue light on
up there
far away
or right next to me
I can’t figure it out
not now
deep in this night
I’m so dizzy
my head is spinning
spinning around her room
with the blue light on

(from “Part Four: Tragic Glorious”)

Searching, looking, wondering, yearning. Once upon a time, it seemed romantic to go and sit outside a girl’s house late at night. It’s a shame that now it’s looked at as creepy.
